Frequently Asked Questions
What you need to know
If you do not find the information you are looking for, our team is here to help. Reach out by phone or email. No question is too small, and asking for information does not commit you to any services.
What is transitional housing?
Stage 2 transitional housing—also called a second-stage shelter—is safe, secure, affordable, and temporary supportive housing for women, with or without children, who are leaving domestic or family violence and require more time and assistance before moving into permanent housing.
How long can I stay?
The length of stay depends on the program, individual circumstances, and housing goals. Each resident will work with our team to develop a plan that supports a safe and sustainable transition to long-term housing.
How will you ensure my data is confidential and my privacy is not breached?
KIP Community Care Foundation is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with care and respect. Information shared with us will be kept confidential and accessed only by authorized individuals who require it to provide support. We will not disclose your personal information without your consent, except where disclosure is required or permitted by law, or where there is an immediate concern for safety.
Do I need a referral?
Most of our clients are referred to KIP Community Care Foundation through partner organizations, agencies, or community service providers. However, you are welcome to contact our team directly to discuss your circumstances, learn more about our programs, and explore our services. An initial assessment will help determine your eligibility and the appropriate supports available.
How can I access services if I am not fluent in English?
Language should not be a barrier to accessing support. You can contact KIP Community Care Foundation in the language you are most comfortable using. Please let us know your preferred language, and our team will work with you to identify appropriate language-support options.
Who is eligible to stay at KIP Community Care Foundation?
KIP Community Care Foundation supports women without children, who are seeking a safe, stable, and supportive environment while navigating challenging life circumstances or working toward greater independence and stability.
Eligibility is assessed on a case-by-case basis through an individualized assessment of each applicant's circumstances, needs, safety, and available supports. Our team will work with you to understand your situation and determine whether KIP's transitional housing and support services are an appropriate fit.
